Great Lakes and Nelnet: Part of the Same Family
Great Lakes will no longer be servicing student loans as of June 2023. Nelnet, whom we've shared the same parent company with since 2018, will be your new student loan servicer. Like two sides of the same coin, we'll continue to work together with the shared commitment of helping you successfully manage your student loans.
All Great Lakes borrowers will be transferred to Nelnet by the end of June. If you haven't already, you'll receive a goodbye communication from us notifying you of the transfer. Then you'll receive a welcome communication from Nelnet as soon as the transfer is complete (about two weeks later).
