It's that time of year again! September brings many unforeseen issues to the financial aid office. Our reminders about the enrollment verification process can help you streamline this routine part of your job, freeing you up to handle the unexpected.
Updated enrollment information for your students comes to Great Lakes—and other student loan servicers—in several ways. Most commonly, your enrollment file is uploaded to National Student Clearinghouse and processed by the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS). Servicers then receive electronic updates from NSLDS about enrollment status to ensure proper loan servicing, and to allow them to provide borrowers with correct information.
If you need to make an immediate enrollment status update for a student whose loans are serviced by Great Lakes—or you don't submit updates to Clearinghouse—there are several options for communicating accurate enrollment information to Great Lakes.
- Complete the In-School Deferment Request form, available on the Forms page in Support Central, and return it via email to email@example.com, or you can also securely upload it through the Financial Aid Professionals portal on the Great Lakes website; refer to Securely Sending Information to Great Lakes in Support Central for additional information on how to do so.
- Email enrollment details to firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Call Client Services to report enrollment over the phone, or if you have any questions. We're here to help!
