Great Lakes Announces $2,500 STEM Scholarships

Awards Totaling $1.875 Million Offered to Students Majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math

— For the third consecutive year, Great Lakes Educational Loan Services, Inc., a nationwide servicer of federal loans, invites students majoring in science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) disciplines to apply for $2,500 scholarships through the Great Lakes National Scholarship Program. Up to 750 new and continuing students who qualify will receive the awards.

Applications will be accepted from February 15, 2014 through April 5, 2014. Finalists will be chosen from a pool of up to 20,000 applicants, and will be notified in July. To be eligible, a student must be:

  • A high school senior or graduate, or current postsecondary undergraduate or graduate level student.
  • A student with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Able to demonstrate financial need.
  • A student who plans to enroll at an accredited, nonprofit two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire 2014-2015 academic year.
