is to become properly registered in SAM and DSBS as a Small, Small Disadvantaged, Small Women
Owned, Small Veteran Owned, Small Service-Disabled Veteran Owned, or a small business in a HUB
Zone business. Small businesses should make sure that they include their full contact information,
webpage address, capabilities narrative and references. Great Lakes engages small businesses whose
records exist in SAM and DSBS.
The certification status of small businesses in DSBS will be populated by the US SBA and from SAM.
The DSBS will automatically review the North American Industrial Classification Code System (NAICS)
codes supplied by a firm perform calculations against each NAICS code size standard to determine
which NAICS codes the firm qualifies as a small business, based on employment and revenue
information entered into SAM.
Firms should update their SAM profile at least every 6 months and should make sure they complete
the small business section on the process. If you need additional assistance or other information
